As Placement Coordinator, you will be managing the placement process, guiding our
prospective workers to where God is calling them, guiding them to the right place and best team
overseas. You’ll connect with teams in various countries in the Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim
worlds, help them define their needs, and help connect our prospects to those needs.

Job Description: Placement Coordinator

with Jesus Christ. The US office is one of 14 national offices working together to field multinational
teams.
Position Summary: The Placement Coordinator (PC) is the primary Interserve USA representative to
engage our prospective workers to match opportunities for them overseas on Interserve country teams.
The Placement Coordinator will manage the short and long-term ministry/job placement opportunities
for Interserve USA inquirers and workers in transition working to find the best matches for workers and
overseas teams. The Placement Coordinator will exhibit creativity, persistence, and an engaging spirit
with colleagues overseas in the pursuit, discovery, and negotiation of matching ministry/job
opportunities with our prospective workers. In addition, the PC will work in cooperation with regional
staff in the USA and country teams overseas to coordinate the selection, pre-field experience and
logistical support for short-term workers. This is also a customer service role which seeks to patiently
manage idealistic placement expectations with country team realities, and sometimes, limitations. The
ideal candidate will demonstrate an equal amount of relational and technical competency as they
oversee people and manage processes.
Reports to: Personnel Director
Commitment: This is a non-exempt, full-time position. Two thirds of the salary is provided, $34,000 to
$43,000 per year, commensurate with experience. An additional one third may be personally raised as
support. Support-raising training is available.
Specific duties:
The Placement Coordinator is responsible for:
1. Initiating the Application Process
a. Establish profiles on the Interserve intranet for all inquirers.
b. Assure that application materials are disseminated to prospective workers.
c. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of inquiry materials.
2. Discovering Matching Opportunities
a. Initiate placement conversation and maintains ongoing conversation with country teams.
b. Negotiate placement scenarios specific to geography, timing, and professional interest.
c. Seek to discover multiple options for placement consideration.
d. Provide inquirers with information on matching opportunities.
e. Encourage inquirer flexibility against available placements.
f. Access job openings and country team briefs on the international Interserve intranet.
g. Access available projects rosters and opportunity sheets via the Interserve USA intranet.
3. Establishing Connections and Monitoring
a. Seek to create new placement opportunities, in cooperation with internal and external parties.
b. Access and share data on internal social media platforms to promote personnel and collect
matching opportunity information in the most unique circumstances.
c. When appropriate, introduce inquirers with country team or partner project representatives.
d. Monitor placement conversations between country teams and inquirers.
e. Once a match has been made, change the inquiry form to an application form and oversee
progress in conjunction with the Area Coordinator
f. Monitor all forms of communication to ensure lifegiving and fruitful placements once
assignments have been
4. Coordinating of Short-Term Workers
a. Ensure the completion of the applicant interview.
b. Assure that the ethos and values of Interserve are appreciated by prospective workers.
c. Coordinate applicant selection in cooperation with country team and area coordinator.
d. Oversee the completion of all pre-field requirements, including logistical preparations,
compliance matters, and orientation activities.
e. Work with the National Office Finance Director to ensure budgets are prepared to meet future
demand against the account and to ensure compliance with financial guidelines.
f. Attend to problem solving, crisis management, and ongoing support by maintaining periodic
communication with participants throughout their term.
g. Encourage prayer effort by ensuring requests and news updates are forwarded to the Executive
Assistant for distribution to staff.
h. Manage short-term personnel data in national and international databases as a means of
ongoing reporting.
i. Take the lead role, as the national office liaison, in facilitating communications with a variety of
national, country team, and international stakeholders.
j. Ensure national office orientation meets national and international requirements by updating
stateside orientation manuals and forms as needed
k. Collect field-based evaluation materials, share with appropriate team members, and
appropriately address any concerns.
l. Ensure completion of a stateside debriefing upon return and facilitate follow up.
5. Other
a. Provide policy and procedural oversight and recommend development and revision of policies
and procedure with supervisor.
b. Participate in recruiting and outreach events and activities as needed.
c. Assist in development of recruitment publications in collaboration with communications staff.
d. Aim to create efficiencies and continuous improvements in all areas.
e. Prepare reports for the national and international offices as requested.
f. Attend team and organizational meetings.
g. Other duties and projects as assigned by the Personnel Director.
